If you are navigating something that feels too heavy to carry alone — whether that is relationship stress, family conflict, trauma, depression, or just a season of life that feels overwhelming — therapy can help. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from support and there is no obligation to stay in therapy forever once you start. If you are curious about therapy, that curiosity is enough to start.
To get started, simply reach out through the contact form, email, or give me a call. I will respond as soon as possible to talk through what you are looking for and make sure we are a good fit before scheduling your first appointment. Once we schedule, I will send you intake paperwork that needs to be completed prior to the first appointment.
Insurance does cover individual, couples, and family therapy when there is a medical necessity because of a diagnosis. You don’t need to have a pre-existing diagnosis to get started, we can collaborate on this!
I am in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and Molina Medicaid. Many insurance companies also offer “out of network” benefits and I have the ability to give clients “superbills” to submit to insurance and to utilize those out of network benefits. Sound confusing? I am happy to help walk you through this process!
I also offer private pay for all services, and have sliding scale spots available. I firmly believe cost should not be a barrier to getting support, and I am happy to discuss options with you during your consultation. hared Strength Counseling can help you with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress management, and more. Our therapists will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals.
I believe that healthy relationship connections are vital for emotional well-being and I specialize in attachment and relationship concerns, family dynamics and trauma. I also have experience treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, eating disorders, and career challenges — with a particular passion for working with individuals and families in helping professions and those navigating the foster care and child welfare system.
Typical sessions last 50-55 minutes and take place either in person at my office or virtually. I also offer therapy intensives which are sessions for extended time or multiple days in a row for deeper work and to cover ground and re-establish stability more quickly.
As for how long you will be in therapy, this is different for everyone and will depend on your goals, but the client is in the driver's seat. Some clients only want to explore specific current stressors and find relief within a few weeks-months while others are looking for longer term support. We will talk about this openly throughout our work together and you will always have a say in the direction we go.
Yes! I worked in child protective services for nearly 5 years and am very comfortable taking court involved clients. I understand the complexities that come with court involvement and approach these cases with the same warmth, confidentiality, and non-judgment as any other client. Please reach out to discuss your specific situation so we can determine if we are the right fit.
No, as a therapist, I do not prescribe medications. If you feel that medications would be beneficial for your mental health, I can provide referrals for medication providers that I know and trust and can coordinate care with them as part of your overall treatment.
Yes! What you share in therapy is confidential. There are a small number of legal exceptions including situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, or a court order, and we will review these with you at the start of treatment.
Regarding past therapy experiences not being helpful — I completely understand that, and have been in that position before as a client! It can take time to find someone that you feel comfortable with. Studies consistently show that the relationship you have with your therapist is a huge indicator of overall success, and while I hope that I can be that provider for you, there are no hard feelings if this isn’t the right match! I am able to provide referrals for other providers as needed.
